Longevity of Different Occupations in Korea

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this paper is to analyze longevity of different occupations in Korea.

Methods: The subjects of this paper classified socially prominent occupations into 11 groups and 3,215 cases of Korea that the data in this study was collected from obituary notices of the daily newspapers, Republic of Korea in from 1963 to 2010.

Results: The results of this study showed that clergymen (80 years) lived over 13 years longer than writers, athletes, and media personalities (each 67 years). Clergy are under less stress, non-smoking and life in a more pleasant natural environment.

Conclusion: The implications of this study are that longevity is to be fostered by promoting healthy behaviors and by inventing various policies to mitigate the environmental pollution.
